Catching W’s: A Dive into Summer 2023’s Fleet Managing Success

Now that Bird reported their ridership results from summer 2023 this week, it is clear that this eco-friendly mode of transportation, still despised by some but loved by the planet, is becoming a standardized transportation option within cities. Bird recently announced an impressive 16 million miles covered by its riders globally with 11 million rides taken, and while that’s the macro picture, we thought you’d be interested to know how the success has translated at the micro-fleet manager level.

During summer 2023, our own fleet accounted for a staggering 57,000 rides. Now, if we talk about each rider (and don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten those duos and trios sharing a single scooter) we could pack out Anfield in Liverpool, San Siro in Milan or even back-to-back-to-back Madison Square Garden nights! As for those unlawful duos and trios, well, they’d be still trying to get into the stadium.

Our riders collectively spent 396,200 minutes on our scooters this summer. That equals to 275 days of continuous riding. Imagine someone hopping on a scooter and not stopping until almost 9 months later.

In those hundreds of thousands of minutes, a head-turning 119,000 kilometers was traveled. To put that in perspective, it’s almost going around the globe three times.

The summer of 2023 was about making greener choices, bonding over shared rides and mastering the act of fleet management. Stewart Lyons, President of Bird Global, encapsulated it best when he mentioned how this summer showed the “incredible loyalty shown by Bird riders.” And we’re proud to say that our fleet’s stats echo that sentiment loud and clear.

Stay tuned as we roll into a promising, surprisingly warm autumn, and don’t forget to hop on a Dubs managed scooter the next time you want to make a greener choice.
